My name is David Eklund and I graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting and Printmaking. I was also extremely interested and involved with electronic-music improvisation (very early ARP, Electrocomp, and Putney VCS3 synths) sometimes in conjunction with modern dance. I used some of the very first portable video equipment available in the mid 70s ( Sony PortaPak) and made music-videos long before there was anything like MTV. I am a documentary film-maker and event videographer living in the central Virginia area. For the past several years I have worked with the Virginia Film Festival covering actor`s forums, panel-discussions and other special events. One particularly engaging discussion between NPR film-critic David Edelstein and actor Robert Duvall was requested by Mr.Duvall for his own collection. I am about to make the transition to high-defintion video and will upgrade everything from cameras to new workstations. I am a longtime Sony user and will probably continue this trend with one of their great new models such as the PMW-EX 1, HVR-Z7U or HVR-Z5U.
